Spanish for English Learners
Whether you are learning Spanish for work, travel, family or personal growth, this course is designed specifically for adult learners, recognizing that every student comes to class with different experiences, goals, and learning styles. Throughout this course, students will build a strong foundation in the spanish language by focusing on everyday vocabulary, basic grammar, pronunciation, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will also explore the rich cultures, traditions and customs of spanish-speaking countries to help them develop a greater appreciation for the diversity of the spanish speaking world. Active participation, regular attendance and completing assignments will help you make steady progress throughout the course. No previous knowledge of Spanish is required - just willingness to participate, practice, and learn.
Classes are held Tuesday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
Culinary Cafe
In our Culinary Cafe class, students will learn how to improve their existing kitchen skills, gain experience in a commercial kitchen environment, learn proper hospitality, and the overall operations of working in a cafe environment. Students will take what they learn at the beginning of class and apply it to our very own "Culinary Cafe" by running and operating it like a regular cafe, such as prepping small meals, beverages, and ultimately providing service to students who are interested in purchasing from the Culinary Cafe. Students will earn their own Food Handlers Certificate that can help provide food service workers with better job opportunities. Many food service establishments now require their employees to be certified, and certification can help to demonstrate a worker’s commitment to food safety when applying for jobs. Now is the time to get certified and take your career to the next level.
Classes are held Wednesday from 4:00pm-8:00pm.
High School Equivalent Diploma
High School equivalent instruction in Math, English, Science, History and Elective opportunities. Blended learning combines web based credit recovery material and in class teacher directed instruction.
Classes are held Monday – Thursday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
GED Test Prep
Web based instruction designed to prepare students to successfully pass the GED Test. GED prep books are also available for those who would prefer.
Classes are held Tuesday (Math & Science) / Wednesday (English & History) from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
Spanish GED Test Prep
Instrucción basada y diseñada para preparar a los estudiantes para aprobar con éxito el examen GED en español. Los libros de preparación para el GED en español también están disponibles para aquellos que lo prefieran.
Las clases se llevan a cabo Martes (Matemáticas & Ciencias) / Miércoles (Ingles & Historia) de 6:00pm-9:00pm.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Multi-level course designed to increase verbal, reading and writing in English. Beginner to Advanced welcomed. Blended learning of web based and in class instruction gives real world scenarios and English language skills.
Curso multi-nivel diseñado para incrementar la expresión verbal, lectora y escrita en inglés. Todos son bienvenidos de principiante a avanzado. El aprendizaje combinado de instrucción basada en la red y en clase brinda escenarios del mundo real y habilidades del idioma inglés.
ESL 1 & 2 Classes are held Tuesday or Thursday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
ESL 3 & 4 Classes are held Monday or Wednesday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
ESL 5 Classes are held Tuesday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
Citizenship
Our students will be in an intense and applicable learning environment where they will gain English language skills, history and civics knowledge needed to pass the citizenship exam.
Classes are held Wednesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Eating Smart-Being Active
Each lesson is short and informative. Kinesthetic activities help students engage in the learning process, increasing their retention of the new information and skills. Lesson content includes physical activity, nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, food preparation (cooking skill development), food safety, and food resource management.
Classes are held Tuesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Culinary Arts Workshop
Each workshop is short and informative, they run one Saturday a month and will vary on topics covered. Please reach out to us with any questions that you have. These amazingly fun workshops can be taken as a for credit class or a community interest segment.
Classes are held Saturday from 9:00am-1:00pm.
Digital Literacy : Intro
Our students will be learning the basics of how to navigate a computer. This is a beginning level class that is open to any students who are wanting to learn basic MS Office skills.
Classes are held Monday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
Woodworking
You will develop basic knowledge of wood materials, products for construction, framing, and safety as we cover techniques for measuring, layout, and the use of hand tools. After demonstrations, you will also use portable power tools. Make your own projects and get the chance to refurbish old projects.
Classes are held Wednesday from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
